Högtryck – World Wide Wind

A whole bunch of excellent wind instrument folk musicians happen to live in or near the city of Malmö. That`s how the idea of Högtryck was born; a folk music group with winds only.

The varying musical background of the group members is reflected in the repertoire, which consists of folk music from many different parts of the world as well as some original material. The music’s emotional spectrum is wide, from the lyrical, and moving to the sweaty and fierce.

Högtryck is:

  • Dan Gisen Malmqvist, clarinets and flute. Wellknown from bands like Filarfolket, Avadå and others, besides several solo projects.
  • Torbjörn Righard, saxophones and low whistle. Torbjörn plays both Irish and Swedish folk, the latter mainly in the group Alwa, but also plays jazz with his own band. Also a saxophone teacher.
  • Thomas Ringdahl, saxophone. Thomas’s previous career include Filarfolket and Kapell Frisell. Also works as a saxophone teacher.
  • Pär Moberg, saxophones, flutes, arrangements. Plays both Balkan and Swedish music, in groups like Tummel, Grannar and World Mix Orchestra. Also teaches at the Academy of Music.
  • Andreas Rahlsgård, saxophone and flute. Plays Swedish with Mats Berglunds Trio and Irish with Greenhouse with the same bravado. Also a saxophone teacher.
