Princess Leia Cocek

Detta är en låt som jag från början skrev till min spelkompis Tobias Allvins dotter Leia. När Marinens Musikkår ville beställa ett arrangemang av mig, så föreföll denna låt som lämplig att arrangera. Verket uruppfördes våren 2010.

Eastern Wind

A set of arrangements of Eastern European folk music for wind orchestra.

For adult wind orchestra:

• Eastern Wind, a suite of two klezmer tunes.
• Dona Dona (Dos Kelbl), Yiddish song for wind orchestra and two singers (alto/baritone). Could also be performed instrumentally.
• Misirlou, a classical Ottoman song, known with lyrics both in Turkish, Greek and Yiddish, but perhaps most wellknown as a surf rock tune (!) in Pulp Fiction.For wind orchestra and singer (tenor/baritone).
• Sobaka Balabaka, a song by Tobias Allvin from Tummel in russian style. rysk stil. For wind orchestra and singer (tenor).

For easy youth wind orchestra:

• Lebedik Un Freylekh, klezmer tune
• Bierstube Bulgar, klezmer tune

Klezmer/Balkan suite for male choir!

For a concert with the klezmer band Tummel och Lunds Academic male choir, I made some arrangements for male choir and klezmer band:

Hymn for Rosengård

An arrangement for symphony orchestra, folk fiddler, soprano saxophone (or clarinet) and alto folk singer of four traditional dance tunes from southern Sweden, but with influences from other folk traditions as well.Ett arrangemang för symfoniorkester, folkmusikfiol, sopransax (eller klarinett) och folksångerska (alt) av fyra skånska slängpolskor, men med influenser från folkmusik från andra håll i världen.

Layers

A very intricate chamber work for guitar, piano, flute, oboe, violin, viola, cello and percussion. The work is sort of mathematically buit up, but is still harmonic, and is fascinating in that although the whole ensemble has a common pulse, the time signature is different for all of them. Scandinavian Folk Suite I

A suite of a slängpolska and a halling, both written by me and arranged for Symphonic band (wind orchestra). The first one is very dramatic, the second more "groovy".Ett stort arrangemang för Symphonic Band (blåsorkester) i nordisk folkmusikstil.

Lindormen

A medieval ballad, also from the Swedish-speaking parts of Finland, wich tells the story about the lady who lies down beside the dragon and wakes up beside a prince. Arranged for male choir.Finlandssvensk medeltida ballad arrangerad för manskör.

Med ängslan, sorg och stort besvär

A traditional folk tune from the Swedish-speaking parts of Finland, arranged for male choir and tambourine. Won a price in a competition for folk music choir arrangements in 1999. Diogenes

Although the music is written in Scandinavian folk style, the text tells the story about the Greek philosopher Diogenes, who lived in a barrel. A suite of three songs for mixed choir. Available at Swedish Music Information Centre.

Frihet under ansvar

(Liberty Under Responsibility.) a dramatic piece for mixed choir, didgeridoo or other drone instrument and synthesizer. The text tells us that we are all responsible for our actions, no matter what the circumstances are. Available at Swedish Music information centre.

Romance for baritone saxophone and piccola flute

A comic but also romantic piece describing all the shifts of love. Available at Swedish Music information Centre.

Lilla Hjärtat

(Little Heart). A piece for saxophone quartet and percussion (optional) in Balkan style, incorporating a lot of improvisation. Available at Swedish Music information centre.

Gankino Horo

A traditional Bulgarian dance tune in 11/6 arranged for woodwind quintet.

Slängpolska efter Munkberg

A traditional Swedish dance tune arranged for string quartet.

Gårillen

A piece for string quartet in traditional Swedish folk style, but with compositional principles borrowed from serial and contrapuntal techniques as well. Available at Swedish Music information centre .

Begravningsmarsch för en ofrivillig soldat

(Burial march for an unvoluntary soldier.) A piece for brass quintet filled with grief, but with anger lying below the surface. Available at Swedish Music information centre.

Båten har funnit sitt ankar

(The boat has found it's ancor). A piece for organ and soprano saxophone which I wrote for my Cousin’s wedding. (Could also be played by clarinet). Available from Swedish Music Information Centre

Bastet

Bastet was an Egyptian goddess with the head of a cat, and in this piece for symphony orchestra, we can hear how all the cats of Egypt have gathered to dance in her honour. Available at Swedish Music Information Centre

Hommage à Assàr (Music by A.Bengtsson, arr. by P.Moberg)

Assar Bengtsson was one of the greatest traditional fiddlers of the 20th century in the county of Skåne. I have arranged two of his most well known compositions for orchestra, World Mix Orchestra, and three soloists; violin, nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle) and vocal.

Suite Lilanda (musikc trad/M..Lilanda, arr P. Moberg)

For vocalist and symphony orchestra. Preferably played with Zambian singer  Maureen Lupo Lilanda as soloist. The piece is an arrangement of a traditional Zambian song and one of Maureen's own compositions.

El Halidg (Music by Y.Dalal, arr. by P. Moberg)

A solo piece for oud (the Arab lute) and orchestra, most suitably played with Yair Dalal as soloist.  El Halidg is the Arab name of the Persian Gulf.
